2012: Golden Hearts Awards

Golden Hearts Awards 2012

On Thursday 3rd May, we attended the Golden Hearts Awards Evening for the staff of Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital at Cottingham.

We were asked to be on the judging panel for these awards by Mr. Phil Morley, Chief Executive of Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals.

In February we went to Hull Royal Infirmary, along with other judges to discuss all the paper work that we had been sent. Marks had to be allocated to the submissions and then it was decided what persons or team had won the specific categories.

We were then invited to attend the awards evening to see the people being honoured.

All the staff that were nominated and won were amazing, but also people who did not get through deserve a great big thank you.

There are a lot of people who work in the NHS who go above and beyond their call of duty and nobody does realise how wonderful they are.

We would like to thank Mr Phil Morley for asking us to be on the judging panel for this year and to congratulate everyone who attended.

Introduction:

Phil MorelyThe Golden Hearts Awards 2011 were one of the highlights of my career. It was truly inspirational to see so many people at the ceremony last year celebrating the amazing work that often goes unheard and unrecognised in the NHS.

I speak to many staff and I know that many of you don’t consider what you do to be special. We set up the Golden Hearts Awards to show you that your efforts are deserving of recognition and that what you do goes above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis.

This year we received over double the number of entries for the awards and once again the standards are exceptionally high.

I hope that you all know how much we appreciate what you do for our patients and visitors as well as your colleagues.

Good luck to everyone at this year’s Golden Hearts Awards.

Warmest wishes

Phil Morley, Chief Executive

The main award categories were all subject to a rigorous judging process.
